Committees of the Senate
The Academic Senate represents the faculty in academic and professional matters as defined in Title 5 §53200 (the 10+1).
To do this work, the Senate charges committees, subcommittees, and task forces with focused areas of study, review, and recommendation. Faculty members on these groups are appointed by the Academic Senate (Title 5 §53203).
These groups operate under the authority of the Senate, and their recommendations become Senate positions only through Senate action. Each group submits a recommendations, outcomes, and an annual report to the Senate summarizing its work.
The Senate reviews charges and membership each year to confirm they continue to serve faculty’s 10+1 and the institution.
