The 2021 - 2022 SBVC Academic Senate will meet in the virtual format as allowed by AB 361, signed September 16, 2021. SBVC Academic Senate will continue to meet virtually until which time the criterion outlined in the Assembly Bill is no longer met or the bill sunsets (January 1, 2024), whichever may come first.

Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, Section 53200 Definitions

Academic Senate means an organization whose primary function is to make recommendations with respect to academic and professional matters.

Academic and Professional Matters refers to the following policy development matters:

  1. Curriculum, including establishing prerequisites
  2. Degree and certificate requirements
  3. Grading policies
  4. Educational program development
  5. Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success
  6. College governance structures, as related to faculty roles
  7. Faculty roles and involvement in accreditation process
  8. Policies for faculty professional development activities
  9. Processes for program review
  10. Processes for institutional planning and budget development
