FKCE Class Guidelines
Foster & Kinship Care Education Guidelines
LOCATION: Most trainings will be held online via Zoom with the exception of some in-person
classes.
TRAINING CERTIFICATE: Upon completion of an FKCE training and the online evaluation, participants will
be emailed an FKCE Certificate of Completion. Certificates can be used to submit to
San Bernardino County as proof that continuing education requirements have been met.
The FKCE Senior Services Tech will issue training certificates for each training online.
All training sign-in sheets and participant registration forms are entered into the
state's database after all trainings. If individuals would like to receive a copy
of their FKCE training transcript, please contact the SBVC Foster & Kinship Care Education
program office, (909) 384-4457, and allow one week for processing. (Must present a
valid California ID).
REGISTRATION: In order to provide you with quality training and professional services, we recommend
that all participants adhere to the following guidelines:
The following frequently asked questions may be helpful to you:
Do I have to pre-register in order to attend a class?
Yes. There is no way for us to contact you regarding class changes or cancellations
if you do not pre-register.
How do I register for a class?
You may register by doing one of the following:
• Call the Foster & Kinship Care Education (FKCE) Office at (909) 384-4457
• Email your registration to fkce@valleycollege.edu
• The FKCE office will only return a call if there is a question regarding your registration.
Is there a fee to attend a training?
No. Training sessions are free.
I am not a Resource Parent or a Kinship Caregiver. Can I still attend the classes?
Unfortunately, at this time we are dedicated to providing quality training opportunities
to San Bernardino County RFA Resource Families, RFA applicants, and Kinship Caregivers.
What if I can’t make it to a class after I have registered?
No problem! Just call our office to cancel your seat in order to offer it to someone
else who may be waiting for a space.
What if a class gets cancelled or moved? How will I know?
Our office will make every effort to contact you with any cancellations and/or changes.
This is why it is important to pre-register and provide your contact information when
doing so. Class cancellations Monday through Friday after 4:00 p.m. will not provide
us time to reach you by phone. Please note that notices will be posted at the training
sites to the best of our ability regarding unforeseen cancellations.
DISABILITY SERVICES: For disability-related reasonable accommodations, please contact the FKCE Program
office at (909) 384-4457 no later than two weeks prior to the date services are needed.
