Bring OER Awareness to SBVC

Individual students, student clubs, and the Associated Student Government can have an impact on faculty use of open educational resources. While professors are the disciplinary experts and therefore have academic freedom to choose instructional materials, most professors cite textbook costs as one of the main if not the number one factor when selecting textbooks. When students make their voices heard, this lets faculty, administrators, and California legislators who fund public colleges and universities know that lowering the cost of textbooks is an important priority which deserves institutional commitment.
