The Career and Technical Education Department recently hosted two events to give the campus and community and look inside their state-of-the-art facilities. The CTE Open House covered many aspects of the hands-on technological fields, such as automotive, electricity/electronics, HVAC, culinary arts, and more.

Attendees were treated to complimentary food, snacks, and beverages, and were encouraged to wander the facilities or participate in program tours and overviews. The aeronautics department even allowed guests to sit inside several of their aircrafts and learn about the panel boards that can send signals during a medical emergency. SBVC also participated in National Manufacturing Day, an event aimed at addressing the common misperceptions about manufacturing, and address the skilled labor shortage, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. Machinist instructors at SBVC gave turs of the facility and on-site machine demonstrations, even gifting scratch-made keychains to guests.
