Our CPL Stories

SBVC’s Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) program recognizes the skills and knowledge students gain through military service, workplace training, certifications, and other experiences.  These examples demonstrate the diversity of our CPL program—not only in the students we serve, but also in the variety of different methods through which students earned credit for their prior learning.

    Luis is a Marine Corps Sergeant. When he enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College, he received 26 credits from his Joint Service Transcript. His goal is to transfer to Cal State.

    After uploading his JST, Matthew received 12 credits, saving him a full semester.
