Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility Requirements
In order to participate in the Valley Now! Program, studets must attend one of our partnering schools/districts and meet one of the following criteria:
- A current adult school student enrolled in a high school equivalency program.
- A high school student with a total weighted GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- A high school student seeking to enroll in a student development course chosen with the help of their SBVC counselor.
- A high school student who has completed a student development course at SBVC.
9th and 10th grade students wishing to take SBVC courses, will need to fill out a Petition for Academic Exception in addition to the other routine forms. This petition will go before a committee for approval. You will be notified about the petition's status via your SBVC student email account, which is created for you when you apply to the college. If approved, you may participate in the Valley Now program. Note: 9th and 10th grade students must still meet all other eligibility requirements.
Note: Valley Now! does not provide, distribute, or purchase course materials, including textbooks. Please contact your school to see if materials are available to you at no cost and how to obtain those materials.
* The Valley Now! program currently only includes select courses that we have chosen in partnership with participating schools and districts. Our program does not currently offer all courses seen in the Academic Catalog. Failing to choose approved Valley Now! courses may result in fees being charged to your student account.
