Submissions for Spring 2026

The next issue of Phineas is open for submissions starting October 17th!

SBVC students are invited to submit their best fiction, nonfiction, poetry, artwork, and photography for publication in the Spring 2026 issue of Phineas, the SBVC literary magazine.

Submissions are open until February 22, 2026.

Students may submit work in all categories, but only two works total may be selected for publication across categories. Please read the category guidelines carefully:

Fiction: Up to two stories may be submitted (maximum 2500 words each). Only one story may be selected.
Nonfiction: Up to two pieces may be submitted (maximum 2500 words each). Only one may be selected.
Poetry: Up to ten poems may be submitted. A maximum of two poems may be selected per poet.
Artwork/Photography: Up to five combined submissions may be submitted. A maximum of two works may be selected per artist/photographer.

All submissions must be:

Original and unpublished
Submitted using your student email
Uploaded in the correct format (PDF, Word for writing; JPG, PNG, or PDF for visual art)

Please be sure to click the correct submission button for the type of work you are submitting. Each category has its own form.

All works will be evaluated on a blind submission basis: editors will not see the names of the creators during the review process.

The magazine is curated and produced by students enrolled in English 125: Literary Magazine Production. If you're interested in being part of the editorial team for the Spring 2026 issue, we encourage you to enroll in this course!
