Theatre Arts is the study of human expression, which culminates in live performance. The play is the medium used to tell a story performed by actors. Theatre Arts includes the study of the literature and related disciplines and technologies required for performances. The Theatre Arts Department coordinates several student performances each year. Courses offered by the Theatre Arts Department emphasize creativity, communication skills, and collaborative storytelling. The Department offers both a Transfer Degree in Theatre Arts and a Certificate in Design and Technical Theatre, providing basic preparation for careers in theatre or further study. Courses are designed to meet the needs of students fulfilling general education requirements and the needs of students who are pursuing theatre as a major. Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution and major in Theatre Arts or a related field should consult with a counselor regarding the transfer process and lower division requirements.

A Midsummer Night's Dream is a popular Shakespearean comedy (c. 1595-96) about love's chaos, intertwining four Athenian lovers, feuding fairies, and clumsy actors in an enchanted forest, all set during Duke Theseus's wedding festivities, featuring mischievous Puck and magic that leads to hilarious mix-ups before order is restored. The play explores themes of dreams, reality, love's folly, and order vs. disorder through its overlapping plots.
