Steps to Become an SBVC Student-Athlete

Interested in becoming a student-athlete at SBVC? Follow these steps to get started!

To become a part of the athletics program, you'll need to meet with the Head Coach for the sport you would like to participate in. Once you've established you're going to be part of a team, continue with the following steps.

Head Coach Contact List

If you have never attended SBVC, you will need to create a new OpenCCC account with the steps below. If you are returning to SBVC and already have an account, you will log in with the username and password you previously set up and complete a new application for SBVC.
  • To begin your application, visit opencccapply.net/gateway/apply?cccMisCode=982 and create a new account.
  • Once you are signed in, select "San Bernardino Valley College" from the menu.
  • Complete all steps of the application and submit!
You should receive a welcome email approximately 24 hours after submitting your online application. This email will include your username/email, student ID number, and instructions on how to set up your SelfService account. Once logged in, complete the following:
  • Online Orientation (SBVC)
  • Online Placement (SBVC)
After completing all the steps mentioned above, please visit the Huddle during business hours to meet with an Athletic Counselor and complete your Education Plan (Ed Plan).
  • Huddle Hours:  Monday - Thursday: 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Friday: 8:00 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. (Counseling hours may vary)
  • Athletic Counselor - Andre Wooten, Faculty awooten@valleycollege.edu
  • Athletic Counselor - Armone Lochard, Adjunct alochard@valleycollege.edu

*An Ed Plan does not mean you’re registered in classes. It’s a map you’ll follow while attending SBVC to meet your graduation and/or transfer goals.
Now that you’ve met with an Athletic Counselor and completed your Education Plan, you will select and register for the classes that are listed on your ed plan.

Registration is done through SelfService.
