Convocation Week
Fall 2025 Convocation
As we prepare for Fall 2025, we have a wonderful Convocation Week planned for you (August 19-August 22). We'll begin on August 19 with a fully online Flex Day and a fully online Adjunct Orientation. On August 20, 21, and 22, full-time faculty are contractually assigned to attend all In-Service Days, including scheduled meetings and faculty-focused workshops.

August 19: Adjunct Orientation (Fully online). Virtual Adjunct Orientation: Includes welcome, division meetings, and breakout sessions.
August 20: In-Service Day (Fully in-person). Division meetings.
August 21: In-Service Day (Fully in-person). Faculty-focused meetings, and workshops.
August 22: Opening Day (Fully in-person). Guest Speakers, Brunch, and in-person Academic Senate All Faculty Meeting and Classified Senate All Classified Meeting.

Breakout Session: HSI Taskforce Workshop - Partnering to Elevate the SBVC Student Experience

Join the HSI Taskforce for an interactive workshop inviting faculty to share ideas
and insights on how SBVC can better support our Hispanic student population—and, by
extension, all students. Your input will help shape areas of focus as we work to strengthen
student experience, equity, and institutional support. We’ll also share details about
our year-long initiative to develop actionable recommendations for the college community.

The BSI Update and Info Session will focus on a recap/overview of California Senate
Bill 1348, implications for California Higher Education, and specific information
as it relates to SBVC’s efforts to become a designated Black Serving Institution.

This session will provide faculty with an overview of the services offered through
Student Accessibility Services (SAS), including academic accommodations and specialized
support. The first portion will introduce SAS and its role on campus, followed by
an overview of the tutoring program for SAS students. It will highlight how it works
and how faculty can connect students to these services for added academic support.

Breakout Session: Managing Travel and Reimbursements in Oracle

you exactly how to create Spend Authorizations and Expense Reports in Oracle. You’ll
learn the step-by-step process for submitting travel requests, entering expenses,
and tracking approvals—so nothing gets lost along the way. Whether you’re planning
a trip, requesting mileage, or submitting receipts, this session will walk you through
the process and answer your questions in real time. Live demos will ensure you leave
ready to handle travel and reimbursements with confidence.
Breakout Session: Simplifying Print Requests: Hands-On Demo of Our New Ordering System

Join us for a guided walkthrough of our new print request software designed to streamline
how you submit jobs to the campus Print Shop. This session is tailored for faculty
and will cover everything you need to know—from logging in and placing your first
order to tracking your requests and understanding key features.
Whether you're submitting course materials, event flyers, or custom print jobs, this
workshop will show you how easy it is to get started. Live demos and Q&A will ensure
you leave confident and ready to use the new system.
