Fall 2025 Convocation

As we prepare for Fall 2025, we have a wonderful Convocation Week planned for you (August 19-August 22). We'll begin on August 19 with a fully online Flex Day and a fully online Adjunct Orientation. On August 20, 21, and 22, full-time faculty are contractually assigned to attend all In-Service Days, including scheduled meetings and faculty-focused workshops.

August 19: Adjunct Orientation (Fully online). Virtual Adjunct Orientation: Includes welcome, division meetings, and breakout sessions.

August 20: In-Service Day (Fully in-person). Division meetings.

August 21: In-Service Day (Fully in-person). Faculty-focused meetings, and workshops.

August 22: Opening Day (Fully in-person). Guest Speakers, Brunch, and in-person Academic Senate All Faculty Meeting and Classified Senate All Classified Meeting.

Breaking Barriers: Canvas Accessibility Essentials

Tuesday, 8/19/25:  10:15am - 11:45am

Make your courses inclusive by design! In this session, we’ll explore the essentials of accessibility in online learning and walk you through the powerful tools built into Canvas to help you get there. Learn how tools like PopeTech and UDOIT can quickly identify and help you address common accessibility barriers, no coding or expert knowledge required. We’ll also cover foundational accessibility guidelines to keep in mind while designing or updating your course content. This is a demonstration-based workshop. For hands-on assistance or more advanced accessibility strategies, please register for our personalized one-on-one sessions or join us for other related workshops throughout the semester.

Breakout Session: HSI Taskforce Workshop - Partnering to Elevate the SBVC Student Experience

Join the HSI Taskforce for an interactive workshop inviting faculty to share ideas and insights on how SBVC can better support our Hispanic student population—and, by extension, all students. We’ll also share details about our year-long initiative to develop actionable recommendations for the college community.

The first portion will introduce SAS and its role on campus, followed by an overview of the tutoring program for SAS students.
