A note from Dr. Scott Thayer:

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The start of the Fall 2022 semester, Convocation Week, and New Student Welcome Day are all right around the corner.

We enter this new academic season in a challenging time. Although it felt like 2022 kicked off with the cautious relief of a subsiding pandemic on the horizon, there has been no shortage of economic, health, and political challenges for our students to navigate as they pursue their educational goals in a post-pandemic world. This year, our colleagues have also seen their share of challenges. I want to personally thank you for your continued dedication during these very difficult times: you all have continued to serve our students and the community with the compassion our college is known for.

The current generation of high school graduates will likely come to us facing an elevated level of anxiety about their future. I know that those students will see San Bernardino Valley College as an empathetic and caring educational space.  We have proven time and time again that it is in our campus culture to work together towards student success and build each other up during challenging times.

As we prepare for the new academic year, we have a wonderful Convocation Week planned for you.

Schedule

Our hard work and diligence have undoubtedly laid the foundation for success, and I am excited to work with you to expand upon that blueprint, to give even more of our students access to a brighter and more fulfilling future in 2022-2023.

I look forward to seeing you all during Convocation Week!
