Dual Enrollment allows high school students to take college courses at SBVC, earning both high school and college credit. Whether you want to get ahead in your studies or explore a new subject, SBVC is here to support you! Your journey to college starts here!

Requirements for Dual Enrollment Admissions

  • Must be a high school student enrolled in grades 9-12.
  • Must have approval from your school, parent/guardian, and SBVC.
  • Must complete all required forms and steps to enroll.

Steps to Enroll

Apply at OpenCCC

  • Select San Bernardino Valley College as your school.
  • Complete and submit your application.
  • Check your email within 1–3 business days for your SBVC student ID and student email.
    • If you need assistance retrieving your SBVC ID number or student email address, please complete the Student ID & Application Assistance form located under Additional Resources below.

Please note: the student intake form is no longer required.

Dual Enrollment Request Form

This is where you officially request your classes each semester.

  • Enter your parent/guardian’s email (not yours).
  • Do not use an iCloud email address.
  • Your parent/guardian must sign the form.
  • If not signed within 7 days, you must resubmit.

Important Enrollment Reminders for Dual Enrollment Students

Enrollment limits still apply, even if you requested multiple courses:
  • Fall & Spring: up to 11 units (up to 15 units with approval)
  • Summer: up to 7 units
  • You do not have to register for every course you requested.
  • Once registered, you are responsible for dropping or withdrawing if you no longer plan to participate.

Once your forms are approved, register through Self-Service.

Fall 2026: For classes beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, all required forms must be submitted by all parties by Friday, July 31, 2026. Late submissions do not guarantee a seat in the class. For late-start classes, forms should be submitted at least three weeks before the class start date.

Spring 2027: For full-term classes beginning Tuesday, January 19, 2027, all required forms should be submitted by all parties by Friday, October 23, 2026. Late submissions do not guarantee a seat in the class. For late-start classes, forms should be submitted at least three weeks before the class start date.

Include the late-start section number; view the e-schedule to browse available sections.

Register for Classes

Fall 2026: Registration opened April 26, 2026.

Spring 2027: Registration is expected to open in late November 2026. The exact date will be announced.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • First, check the email you used on your OpenCCC application — your SBVC ID number is usually there.
  • If you don’t see it, you can search for it here (only if you included your Social Security number on your application).
  • If you still can’t find it, call the Dual Enrollment Office at (909) 384-4467 and we can look it up for you.
  • Need help logging in to the SBVC Portal? Call the Help Desk at (909) 384-4357 to reset your password. 
  • You can register for your class during open registration and until the day before it starts. After that, you’ll need add authorization from your instructor, and it must be done before the class’s add deadline.
  • Check the Class Schedule for class dates, details, and textbook or materials information.
  • Remember, it’s your responsibility to register on time. 

 

  • Dual Enrollment students in California don’t pay per-unit course fees — those are waived. 
  • You may still need to pay other small fees, like health or student service fees, depending on your school district. 
  • There’s also a limit on how many units you can take through your school’s Dual Enrollment program — up to 11 or 15 units in fall and spring, and up to 8 units in summer. 
  • If you’re not sure what applies to you, check with your high school Dual Enrollment designee. 
  • Some school districts pay for textbooks and materials — others don’t. 
  • Check your class’s required materials in the Class Schedule and use SBVC’s BookSaver Program to rent most materials. Some districts also cover rental costs. 
  • If you’re not sure, ask your high school or Dual Enrollment office
  • If you need to request a different course, you’ll need to submit a Course Change Request through the SBVC Portal. 
  • Note: Course change requests are only accepted up to three (3) weeks before classes start. 
  • No. Because of FERPA, we can’t share student information with parents over the phone. 
  • If your student has a question about their classes or records, they’ll need to contact us directly. 
  • School staff who work with the Dual Enrollment program can access certain information for educational purposes.
