Dual Enrollment allows high school students to take college courses at SBVC, earning both high school and college credit. Whether you want to get ahead in your studies or explore a new subject, SBVC is here to support you! Your journey to college starts here!

Requirements for Dual Enrollment Admissions

  • Must be a high school student enrolled in grades 9-12.
  • Must have approval from your school, parent/guardian, and SBVC.
  • Must complete all required forms and steps to enroll.

 

Steps to Enroll

  • Visit OpenCCCApply and create an account.
  • Select San Bernardino Valley College as your school.
  • Complete and submit the online application.
  • Check your email within 1 business day for your SBVC Student ID

Dual Enrollment Student Intake Form
  • Complete this form first. Have your SBVC Student ID or application confirmation number ready when you fill it out.
  • If you entered your confirmation number, please allow time for our office to locate your SBVC ID number.

Dual Enrollment Request Form
  • Complete this form to request your dual enrollment course(s)
  • Make sure your parent or guardian receives the email to sign your form.
    • Note: Enter your parent/guardian's correct email, or they won't receive the form, and you'll have to start over.
  • For classes beginning Tuesday, January 20, 2026 please ensure all forms are signed and submitted by all parties by Friday, December 12, 2025.
  • For late start classes, all forms must be completed at least 3 weeks before classes start, but no later than Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Course Change Request Form

  • If you decide to change/add to your courses to your initial request form, you will need to complete this form.
  • For classes that begin Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the last day for students to submit a Course Change Request Form is Thursday, December 4, 2025.
  • For late start classes, all forms and course change requests must be completed at least 3 weeks before classes start, but no later than Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
    • A late-start section number must be provided. Please view the e-schedule to browse for late -start sections. 
  • All course change requests will be reviewed and approved by your high school designee.

Important Enrollment Reminder for Dual Enrollment Students
  • Please note that even if you have petitioned for multiple courses, enrollment limits still apply:
    • Students may enroll in up to 11 units during the Fall and Spring terms.
    • Under certain circumstances, students may be approved to enroll in up to 15 units. Please consult with your high school counselor or designee to determine whether this exception applies to you.
    • Students may enroll in up to 8 units during the Summer term.
  • You are not required to enroll in all of the courses you requested. Choosing not to register for a requested course will not count against you.
Once you are registered in a course, it is your responsibility to drop or withdraw from the class if you no longer intend to participate.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • First, check the email you used on your OpenCCC application — your SBVC ID number is usually there.
  • If you don’t see it, you can search for it here (only if you included your Social Security number on your application).
  • If you still can’t find it, call the Dual Enrollment Office at (909) 384-4467 and we can look it up for you.
  • Need help logging in to the SBVC Portal? Call the Help Desk at (909) 384-4357 to reset your password. 
  • You can register for your class during open registration and until the day before it starts. After that, you’ll need add authorization from your instructor, and it must be done before the class’s add deadline.
  • Check the Class Schedule for class dates, details, and textbook or materials information.
  • Remember, it’s your responsibility to register on time. 

 

  • Dual Enrollment students in California don’t pay per-unit course fees — those are waived. 
  • You may still need to pay other small fees, like health or student service fees, depending on your school district. 
  • There’s also a limit on how many units you can take through your school’s Dual Enrollment program — up to 11 or 15 units in fall and spring, and up to 8 units in summer. 
  • If you’re not sure what applies to you, check with your high school Dual Enrollment designee. 
  • Some school districts pay for textbooks and materials — others don’t. 
  • Check your class’s required materials in the Class Schedule and use SBVC’s BookSaver Program to rent most materials. Some districts also cover rental costs. 
  • If you’re not sure, ask your high school or Dual Enrollment office
  • If you need to request a different course, you’ll need to submit a Course Change Request through the SBVC Portal. 
  • Note: Course change requests are only accepted up to three (3) weeks before classes start. 
  • No. Because of FERPA, we can’t share student information with parents over the phone. 
  • If your student has a question about their classes or records, they’ll need to contact us directly. 
  • School staff who work with the Dual Enrollment program can access certain information for educational purposes.
