Greetings, Valley College!

I hope Spring Break provided our students and all of you some time to reflect and recharge. For me, I had the opportunity to spend time with Dr. Diana Z. Rodriguez, our chancellor, and Dr. Kevin Horan, President of Crafton Hills College at the CEO Symposium. Let’s finish the semester strong as we head toward Commencement 2026!

Last Wednesday, the San Bernardino City Council officially declared Valley College Day on March 26, 2026! I’m looking forward to celebrating our 100th birthday with all of you Thursday with cake. Please join us at 12:45 PM to sing Happy Birthday and for the “100” photo op with our campus community!

This week is also our Centennial Gala, which promises to be one of the core memories in our centennial year. If you haven’t already, please consider volunteering. Thank you for being part of an historic night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VALLEY COLLEGE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Thursday, March 26 is officially Valley College Day in the City of San Bernardino! As we celebrate 100 years of community and excellence, we invite all Wolverines to join in recognizing this special milestone. Please take a moment to wish SBVC a happy birthday on your favorite social media platform, wear your favorite Valley College gear, and show your Wolverine pride across campus and the community. Don’t forget to tag us ( @sbvalleycollege) so we can share the celebration! Let’s come together to celebrate our legacy and continue building the future. Valley Up!

SBVC STUDENT SERVICES BUILDING OPEN FORUM FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2026 AT 8:30 AM

VPAS Keith Bacon and VPSS Yvonne Gutierrez-Sandoval will facilitate an open forum for the Student Services Building that is currently under construction. The VPs will be presenting on the timeline of the building and minor changes to the plans. The collegewide reorganization, Veterans staying in the campus center, and the discontinuance of the START program are some of the reasons for the minor changes. One of the main changes is the centralized approach to Counseling and how that will impact the location of counseling faculty in the new building. We want to engage with Counseling faculty over the next year about how counseling programs and services will evolve to meet the needs of our students. All Student Services employees are expected to attend. All Student Services managers are expected to encourage employees to attend.

COLLEGE COUNCIL, WEDNESDAY MARCH 25, 2026

On Wednesday at College Council, we will be receiving important updates from Accreditation, Multicultural Center Planning, the Participatory Governance Handbook, and the college reorganization. Join us for the meeting or please be sure to connect with your representatives to stay engaged on this important College updates.

ABILITYCON WEDNESDAY! MARCH 25, 2026

Celebrate access, inclusion, and innovation at Student Accessibility Services’ AbilityCon March 25, 2026, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Campus Center walkway. SAS will offer resources, prizes, food, giveaways and live music. Please check it out!

BLACK WOMAN EVOLVED EVENT WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2026

The San Bernardino Community College District Black Faculty and Staff Association is inviting women throughout the district to "Black Woman Evolved," a relaxing time with Dr. Salina Gray, March 25, 2026, 3:00-6:00 PM in B-100. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal. A special lunch will be served and attendees will receive a special gift. Please RSVP here.

CELEBRATE SBVC’S BIRTHDAY THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2026

You’re invited to enjoy cake to celebrate San Bernardino Valley College’s 100th anniversary! Cake for the Campus is March 26, 12:00-2:00 PM in the Lois Carson Campus Center walkway. We’ll gather for a historic “100” photo on the lawn at 12:45 PM. We will also sing happy birthday to Valley College. Hope to celebrate with you there!

CENTENNIAL GALA FRIDAY, MARCH 27, 2026 The SBVC Foundation has worked tirelessly over the past year to prepare for the event of the century – our Centennial Gala. This private celebration will honor the college’s remarkable 100-year legacy and raise critical funds and awareness to ensure its continued impact for the next century. The evening will recognize the visionaries, educators, alumni, donors, elected officials, and community partners whose unwavering support has sustained SBVC’s mission. Many thanks to the foundation and the gala committee, including co-chairs Gloria Macias Harrison and Dr. Yolanda Moses, for all their hard work on this epic event. As noted above, employees are invited to volunteer Thursday and/or the day of the event on Friday. Thank you for being such a meaningful part of our centennial year.

HEALTH SCIENCE/AERONAUTICS GROUNDBREAKING MARCH 31, 2026

The groundbreaking for our new Aeronautics and Health Science complex is March 31, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the front of the former Aeronautics building. I hope you can join us for a tour, special exhibits, and appetizers and desserts made by Valley Grill. Choose a special keepsake representing either Aeronautics or Health Sciences. I’m looking forward to celebrating another milestone event in our centennial year.

CLASSIFIED EVENT APRIL 1, 2026

Classified professionals are invited to “Collaborating Upward: Partnering with your Manager for Shared Success,” April 1, 2026, 10:00-11:30 AM or 1-2:30 PM in the campus center student lounge. BIOLOGY STUDENTS HELP WITH PBS KIDS CAMP, ARTHROPALOOZA

On March 7, Biology Majors Program Association students participated in the PBS Kids Camp hosted by KVCR. Students sharing biology knowledge and displayed specimens from the campus biology museum. They were also invited by the San Bernardino County Museum to participate in the museum’s Arthropalooza event later this month. Thanks to Dean of Science Lorrie Burnham and faculty members Tatiana Vasquez and Dr. Thomas Lechuga for connecting our students to learning and outreach opportunities.
