About the DREAMERs Program
Mission
The DREAMERS Resource Center at SBVC is dedicated to providing academic, financial, and personal support to undocumented students, DACA recipients, AB540 students, including mixed-status families.
Goals:
To create a safe and inclusive environment that empowers students to achieve their educational and personal goals.
History
Established in Spring 2015, the Dream Resource Center (DRC) at San Bernardino Valley College was created to provide a welcoming and supportive learning environment for all students, particularly undocumented students, DACA applicants, and those navigating questions about citizenship and higher education.
From its earliest days, the DRC has been guided by a simple but powerful mission: to ensure that every student, regardless of immigration status, has the tools, resources, and community needed to achieve their academic and career goals.
In 2018, just three years after its founding, the DRC was nationally recognized by Excelencia in Education, a leading organization that celebrates evidence-based programs advancing Latino student success in higher education.
Out of more than 160 programs reviewed nationwide, the SBVC Dream Resource Center was one of only 19 programs selected as an “Example of Excelencia.” This distinction highlighted the DRC’s innovative approach, strong cultural competency, and its measurable impact on the success of Latino and undocumented students.
Today, the Dream Resource Center continues to expand its services and advocacy efforts, guided by the belief that education should be accessible to all. The DRC remains committed to not only supporting undocumented and mixed-status students, but also to inspire hope, empowerment, and belonging across the entire SBVC community.
