100 Nursing and Pharmacy Technology Graduates Honored During Pinning Ceremonies

Before taking the next steps in their careers, 60 Pharmacy Technology and 40 Nursing graduates were honored during their respective pinning ceremonies on May 16.
"The pinning ceremonies for Allied Health graduates are deeply meaningful celebrations that mark the transition from student to healthcare professional," said Health and Life Science Program Assistant Omar Castro. "This ceremony serves as both a rite of passage and a moment of reflection, emphasizing the responsibilities and values that define a career in patient care."
The Nursing ceremony honored the legacy of Florence Nightingale, and included the lighting of candles to mark the passing of knowledge and compassion and the act of service. Having these special celebrations outside of the all-campus Commencement gives students a "more intimate and personalized experience," Castro said. "It acknowledges the compassion, perseverance, and professionalism required in the healthcare field."
Of the 66 students who completed the Pharmacy Technology training program, 35 were awarded a certificate of achievement, 21 received an associate of science degree, and 11 earned both a certificate and degree. All Nursing students received an associate of science degree.
