San Bernardino Valley College kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month 2023 with a series of celebratory events that brought a sense of community and festivity to the campus, beginning with a special resource fair for students.

During the fair, representatives from clubs, departments, and programs were on hand to chat with students about what they had to offer. The mood was festive, with live music, and food and ice cream served.

On September 20, a SBVC Salsa Symposium was held in the Liberal Arts Courtyard, and on October 5, Latinx students spoke about their college experience during a special panel discussion.

There were also several virtual events, including lectures from Rocky Garza and Gaby Natale, and film discussions about the movies "Chavela" and "The Book of Life." To cap off Hispanic Heritage Month, Jose Hernandez, the first Latino astronaut, came to campus on October 12 to speak to students about his life, out-of-this-world moments, and striving for excellence.
