Over the years, there has been rumblings of "Key Performance Indicators", "Institutional Effectiveness", "Equity Work" and tales of "Disproportionately Impacted student populations". These things are connected to the crucial California Community College Student Centered Funding Formula (our lifeline). "The Metrics" will seek to demystify and crack the code to unlock your understanding of how these things relate to your daily functions and professional responsibilities.

This workshop is designed to introduce everyone to new features, but we also offer more in-depth meetings through our one-on-one sessions for those looking to explore topics further. Please note that due to time constraints, we will not be able to showcase every new feature in detail, but this workshop is a fantastic opportunity to get acquainted with the exciting updates available!

In today’s technological age, easy access to AI tools can tempt students, making it challenging to maintain authentic teaching and assessments. Turnitin offers a solution to help identify instances where AI or plagiarism might have been used to misrepresent student work. We invite you to join this workshop, where Turnitin will guide you through the tool, share new updates, and discuss effective strategies to address the challenges posed by AI for our students.

Funding, Budgets and Grants

California Community Colleges and the programs, support services and resources that exist on the campus of Valley College are funded by a variety of sources. From Federal to State, to local and grant funded matters, this session aims to provide context from the perspective of District and SBVC Site level professionals, as well as to serve as a formal introduction to our very own Director of Grants.

Topics include the "Student Centered Funding Formula" (SCFF), with an overview of the allocations and considerations (connected to the implications of our work with students), SBVC specific budgetary matters, and "grant communication", as well as an overall conversation of considerations/possibilities moving forward.

Join the Program Review Committee for St. Anthony’s Straggler’s Day – a day dedicated to supporting you in getting your area’s ASPIRE report done and submitted. Computers will be available or bring your laptop, along with any data, notes, or COLLEAGUES from your area to this work session!

Participatory Governance 101 presents the shared decision-making framework at San Bernardino Valley College, grounded in AB 1725 and Title 5. The presentation explains how governance functions through collaboration among the Academic Senate, Classified Senate, Associated Student Government, administrators, and the College Council, with recommendations flowing through committees to the College President. It clarifies the roles and responsibilities of each constituency, and highlights opportunities for participation, emphasizing how effective participatory governance supports transparency, equity, and student success at SBVC.
