J. Peter Roberto

J. Peter Roberto, M.S.W., A.C.S.W., L.M.S.W. (Pete) holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is currently Associate Dean for the School of Trades & Professional Services at the Guam Community College (GCC). Prior to his appointment, Pete served as assistant professor and department chair for the Criminal Justice and Social Sciences department and in 2019, served as Faculty Senate President. Through regional grant funding support from the U.S. Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, Pete co-authored the pilot program for industry certification in 2016 for drug and alcohol counselors and prevention specialists. In 2013, he obtained a Small Assessment Grant Award as principal author for the establishment of the Associates of Science Degree in Human Services at GCC. Prior to joining GCC, Pete served in administrative and direct service roles with the Guam Behavioral Health & Wellness Center and Public Health & Social Services. In 2010, Pete obtained recognition as a Distinguished Alumni from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. He is co-founder of the National Association of Social Work – Guam Chapter and maintains active membership with the Academy of Certified Social Workers.

Dr. Jeff Stephenson

Dr. Jeff Stephenson is the Vice President of Student Services at American River College.  He has 22 years of higher education experience including serving as the Associate Vice President of Student Services (Grant Programs), Dean of Counseling and Transfer Services, and also as interim Dean of Equity and Educational Pathways.  He was the program director/faculty of the Funeral Service Education Program at ARC, and a professor of mortuary science at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL.  Jeff is a former department chair, curriculum committee chair and currently serves on numerous committees at the college.  He oversees all student services areas at American River College and has been deeply involved in the Guided Pathways work at the college.  Jeff was involved in the administrative restructuring of the Student Services Division which now includes the Library and Learning Resources Center.  He has served on five previous accreditation teams and has also been the administrative lead for Standard II.B and II.C at ARC.  Jeff has also participated on several Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) Peer Review Teams and recently chaired one of the teams. Prior to entering in the field of higher education he was a licensed funeral director and embalmer.  Jeff holds a doctorate in education in Leadership for Higher Education from Capella University, a master’s degree in education from Western Illinois University, and a bachelor’s degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.

Karen Wong

Karen Wong is a Coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness and Professor of English at Skyline College. She’s long been committed to student success and equity, with some of her most fulfilling experiences teaching in learning communities such as Puente, serving on the guided pathways committee, and working closely with faculty and staff to leverage SLOs and assessment as one means to strengthen their ability to best support students. Presently she coordinates operations and activities pertaining to institutional effectiveness, ranging from accreditation to program review to SLOs and assessment.
