The closure of SBVC’s campus hasn’t slowed the progress of its Guided Pathways initiatives, which recently included the launch of a redesigned website. At valleycollege.edu, students can use the new interactive wheel to explore various fields of academic study and potential careers. The Guided Pathways framework creates a highly structured approach to student success that provides all students with a set of clear course-taking patterns to promote better enrollment decisions and prepare students for future success.

Upon selecting a pathway from the wheel, students can explore academic programs offered at SBVC that would lead to a career in that corresponding field. The individual program pages have also integrated the new digital catalog, allowing students to now browse a digital archive of degrees & certificates, required courses, program outcomes, and faculty listings. This CourseLeaf catalog is a comprehensive management solution that will encourage students to engage with the interface, which was formerly just an uploaded PDF. The catalog integrates and syncs with student information systems, flags errors and provides summary reports to deliver an academic catalog website that accurately reflects SBVC’s programs. The Guided Pathways framework can improve student achievement and transfer, cut down on the total number of units while earning a degree, increase career certifications and eliminate achievement gaps.
