Artist Development

Filmmaker Labs

Join the Institute of Media Arts at San Bernardino Valley College the second Thursday of each month (Starting September 2022) to share your works with others in the community. Each workshop is hosted by a FTVM Professor who will guide the conversation and help you reach your project goals. Bring your script pages, raw footage, rough assemblies, etc. Click on the link below to register. Media Professional Development Workshops

These workshops provide media professionals specified training on some of the Film, TV, Media Department's professional level equipment, software, and knowledge. Topics this year include Setting Up Your Podcast, Filming on Film, Digital Cinema Cameras (Sony FS7 and Arri Amira), Film Scheduling Using Movie Magic, AVID Media Composer Workflows, and Acting for the Camera.

The media arts faculty of San Bernardino Valley College provide High School Students with deep dives into various concentrations and skills in the world of media arts. These certificates presented by the Film, TV, Media program at San Bernardino Valley College provide the basics in film and media production that can be completed full-time within a semester or over a year. Production Grants

As a student enrolled in our advanced level FTVM classes you can apply for production grants to help you complete your film and media projects.

FILM ON FILM Grant

This grant provides up to $20,000 to a student to complete the production of a short film produced in our FTVM 234 course on film. To apply be enrolled in FTVM 234 and complete the application outline here:
 

  • Complete a budget and schedule
  • Complete a shot list 
  • Have a completed script
  • Complete a letter of intent expressing why your project should receive this funding
  • Complete an elevator pitch

*Note: If you can demonstrate proficiency in film making you may qualify for prerequisite waiver.

Cinema Production Grant

As a registered student in the FTVM 235 class you are eligible to receive funds to complete a large-scale production, such as a feature film, hour drama, half hour sitcom, documentary feature, or web series. 
 
To apply be enrolled in FTVM 235 and complete the application outline here:

  • Be registered in the FTVM 235 class
  • Complete a budget and schedule
  • Complete a shot list 
  • Have a completed script (in FTVM 121)
  • Complete a letter of intent expressing why your project should receive this funding
  • Complete an elevator pitch

COVID-19 Job Retraining & Scholarship Program

In light of the Covid-19 pandemic the Institute of Media Arts at San Bernardino Valley College will provide up to 20 scholarships to those interested in gaining training in media and film production. These scholarships will cover the enrollment fees, up to the California Resident fee amount (California Resident Fees), for any of our certificate programs, which the Film, TV, and Media Department offers. Those include Video Broadcast, Audio Broadcast Production, Media Development, Social Media Studio Production, Social Media Field Production, Social Media Narrative Production and Post-Production. Some of these certificates can be completed within one semester as a full-time student or over the course of an academic year as a part-time student. 

Recipients of the scholarship will also have access to the Institute of Media (IMA) Art's Career Services Professional. The Career Services of the IMA provides resume writing, portfolio development, interview preperation, and job/internship search skills. Please complete the form below by August 4, 2022 if you wish to begin classes for the fall 2022 semester or by January 04, 2023 if you wish to begin in the spring 2022 semester.
