Support and Steps Leading towards Your College Success
To improve students' learning outcomes and prepare the workforce needed for California
economy, Governor Brown signed Student Success Act of 2012 into law. The bill will help more California community college students reach their
goals of earning a degree or a certificate, advancing in their careers, and/or transferring
to a four-year university.
To set a clear academic and/or career goal and reach the goal in a reasonable time,
the Student Success Act requires that all students complete college orientation and basic skills assessment
before they start taking college courses, and develop an educational plan leading
toward their goal. SBVC counselors are ready to assist students in their pursuit
to college success: exploring academic and career options, making an informed decision
and creating a comprehensive educational plan to reach their goal.
