Eligibility and Application Information

Applications For Fall 2018 Are Available NOW At The STAR Program Office  AD/SS 201                                                   Applications are availabel on the office front door after regular hours.


  • Program Brochures and Applications Are Available In The STAR Program Office


  • Meet One of The Following: First Generation College Student, or Low Income, or Physical or Learning Disability                        

  • US Citizen or Resident - If accepted in STAR the following are required at orientation:            - US Citizen: Copy of your valid Social Security Card or Birth Certificate                                   - Resident Alien: Alien Registration Card/Green Card (I-551, I-68 or I94)         

  • Working on an Associate’s Degree and Planning to Transfer To A Four-Year University or College                                            

  • Enrolled in 12 Units or More at SBVC & Must Follow Educational Plan To Complete an AA/AS within 6 Semesters                                                                                                                  -  Students with unit restrictions, required to take less than 12 units a semester, must have   completed 30 units and must complete their AA/AS within 6 semesters.

  • Must be English 914 Eligible (Enrolled in, Completed, or Tested into English 914 or Higher) 

  • Successfully Completed One Semester at SBVC With A Cumulative GPA of 2.2 or Above and No History of  Ws, Ds or Fs                                                                                             -   If you are new to SBVC you can apply for a Conditional Admittance.  If accepted you must successfully complete your first semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.2, or higher, to remain in the program.                                        

  • Completed less than 60 units and have not already earned an Associate, Bachelor’s or higher degree from any school.

  • Due to program completion and tracking guidelines, some SBVC Degree Programs and Degree + Certificate Applicants May Not Qualify. Examples: Nursing A.S., Combined Human Services A.A. + Certificate(s), Engineering A.S.

  • Applicants with only one semester remaining at SBVC are not eligible for the program.

    • If Accepted Student Must Attend the Mandatory ‘Welcome/Welcome Back Orientation’ Prior To Starting the Program and Will Be Asked To Provide Valid Social Security Number Before Starting Program. Priority Registration is Earned After Completing The STAR 1st Semester Priority B Participant Requirements. All Information and Documentation Is Given On A Voluntary Basis.                                                                                                                     
    • Proof Of Financial Status Is Required.  You May Bring In Any One Of The-Following
      • Current 2017 Signed Income Tax Return or Tax Transcript (Copy)
      • Notice of BOG B Award For 2018 - 2019 (Copy)
      • Notice of Pell Grant Award For 2018 - 2019 (Copy)
    • A Fall 2018 SBVC Class Schedule Is Required Showing Enrollment in 12 Units or More
