Applicant Requirements
Meet One of The Following: First Generation College Student, or Low-Income, or Has a Physical or Learning Disability
- US Citizen or Resident - If accepted in the program the following will be required at orientation:
- US Citizen: Copy of your valid Social Security Card, U.S. Passport, U.S. Passport Card, or Birth Certificate
- Resident Alien: Alien Registration Card/Green Card (I-551, I-68 or I94)
- Working on an Associate Degree and Planning to Transfer to A Four-Year University or College

* Enrolled in 12 Units or More at SBVC & Must Follow Educational Plan to Complete an A.A./A.S. within 6 Semesters or
* Enrolled in 9 to 11 Units, Completed 30 Transferable Units & Must Follow Educational Plan to Complete an A.A./A.S. within 6 semesters
* Students taking less than 9 units do not qualify and are encouraged to apply when they have more units or
* SAS Students with unit restrictions, required to take 8 – 6 units a semester, must have a Disability Restriction Verification from Student Accessibility Services, have completed 30 units and must complete their A.A./A.S. within 6 semesters. (SAS students taking less than 6 units do not qualify and are encouraged to apply when they have more units.)

* Enrolled in English 101 or 101 + 086 or 101 + 087 or have already completed English 101.
* Completed One Semester at SBVC With A Cumulative GPA of 2.2 or Above and No History of Ws, Ds or Fs or
* If you are new to SBVC you can apply for a Conditional Admittance. If accepted you must successfully complete your first semester with a cumulative GPA of 2.2, or higher, to remain in the program.
* Completed fewer than 60 units and have not already earned an Associate, Bachelor’s or higher degree from any school.
* Due to program completion and tracking guidelines, some SBVC Degree Programs and Degree + Certificate Applicants May Not Qualify. Examples: Nursing A.S., Combined Human Services A.A. + Certificate(s), Engineering A.S.
* Applicants with only one semester remaining at SBVC are not eligible for the program.

Application status notification is usually provided via e-mail, within two weeks of submitting a competed application and the necessary documents. Math tutoring may not be available for some or all of Fall 2022.
During Fall 2022 The STAR Office Will Be Remote on Fridays.
