Much research has been done on the successes and benefits of participating in learning communities. Participating in a learning community helps you to successfully complete linked classes that contribute to writing skills and learning strategies for creating success in college and in life. These classes are taught by instructional and counseling faculty.  A mentoring component is also included that teaches the skill of networking.

Overall, the classroom experiences in learning communities are designed to increase your personal and academic success. Other benefits include:

  • A sense of belonging through new friendships,
  • Engagement in study groups and increased social interaction,
  • Participation in more dynamic discussions in classes, and
  • Exposure to opportunities for field trips and other organized activities.

Join the learning communities of the UC Puente Project or the Tumaini Program.
