SUMMER 2016 ONLINE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT LOG-IN AND POST AN INTRODUCTION IN BLACKBOARD BY TUESDAY 5/31/16 BEFORE MIDNIGHT WILL BE DROPPED. NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS IS A CONDENSED SUMMER COURSE THAT BEGINS ON TUESDAY 5/31/16 AND RUNS UNTIL THURSDAY 6/30/16.

This ONLINE class requires regular participation via discussions, assignments, and exams--failure to consistently submit required work on time will make success in this class very difficult. Therefore, students who do not participate in the course each week may be dropped.

1. Registered students should log into Blackboard a few days before the start of the semester to orient themselves with this online class. For help doing so, please refer to the links and instructions made available under "Primary Course Management System" below.

2. Once you�ve logged in, please bookmark your Blackboard log in page for later use.

3. You should aim to have the textbook several days before the class begins! The primary textbook for this course is Cultural Anthropology: A Perspective on the Human Condition (2014) by Emily A. Schultz and Robert H. Lavenda. You are required to have the 9th edition of this book. In accompaniment with the required textbook, you should receive an ethnography called Listen, Here is a Story by Bonnie L. Hewlett. This ethnography is part of our required reading for this class, so, if you opt to order your textbook online rather than purchase through the campus bookstore, then please be sure to also acquire a copy of this ethnography. It is critical that each of you owns your personal copy of these required texts in order to succeed in this course. There is a third, OPTIONAL text, called Conformity and Conflict, but I will be supplying you with excerpts from this text throughout our course via Blackboard, so you will not need to purchase this book.

4. Students must own a computer with internet connection, and be able to purchase the textbook for this course. Often public computers are not compatible with the online exams in this class.
