WAITLIST/ADDING
Instructor will send email to students on the wait list (in order of wait list) beginning a week or so before the course starts confirming that those students still wish to add the course. Add codes will be sent to those confirming their commitment to enroll. Students receiving add codes need to make every effort to enroll in the course as quickly as possible. It is possible not all wait list students will be able to add the class.

AFFIRMING YOU ARE IN CLASS
All students enrolled in this class must log into Canvas and complete the introductory assignment before end of day on the SECOND DAY of class to avoid being dropped.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete this class, you MUST have:
1. Access to a functioning and reliable computer
2. Access to reliable Internet connection every day
3. Knowledge of basic computer, word processing, and Canvas functions

TEXTBOOKS
The course will utilize a number of free, electronic texts; there are no textbooks to buy. Students will need to access texts through Canvas.

TIME COMMITMENT TO COURSE WORK
It is important to remember that online classes require you not only to have time for the course hours (a 4 unit class would have 4 hours of classroom time a week) but time to complete homework in addition to those course hours. The Schedule of Classes notes that students should expect 2 hours of homework for every in-class hour. So for a 4 unit class, you would expect to need 4 hours of virtual class time, plus 8 hours of homework each week. So you should have 12 hours a week available to do the class work. While some students may not need quite that amount of time to complete course work in the online format (many will), you must understand the time commitment required to be successful in the course. There is careful reading of instructions, explanations and texts. There are required discussions and activities to participate in as well. Finally, there is the writing of papers (which includes thinking, planning, organizing, drafting and revision, and in some cases research). Effective time-management (including a realistic sense of how long various assignments actually take you to do), and some self-discipline, are needed to succeed.

OTHER IMPORTANT COURSE INFO
