  • Each student must identify an independent study topic PRIOR to the first day of class, and must contact Professor Heibel in order to process the independent study application and contract. Please consult Canvas for further details. Note: This is a fully online class. Students will be required to complete online instructional content via Canvas. Welcome to the fall 2020 semester! All classes are conducted online, primarily through Zoom and Canvas.

I am teaching three full-term (17-week) classes that begin during the week of 17th August:

1) GEOG 110-03: Physical Geography Lecture,
2) GEOG 110-04: Physical Geography Lecture, and
3) GEOG 111-02: Physical Geography Laboratory.

I am teaching two short-term (14-week) classes that begin during the week of 7th September:

1) GEOG 110-05: Physical Geography Lecture, and
2) GEOg 111-03: Physical Geography Laboratory.

I am teaching one short term (10-week) class that begins during the week of 12th October:

-- GEOG 120: World Regional Geography Lecture.

All courses will be conducted online via Zoom and Canvas. If you are registered for any of these courses, then they will appear within your Canvas dashboard.

You can access Canvas many ways, including:

1) On the SBVC homepage (, click on the "Log In" link (upper-right portion of the homepage), select "Canvas" from the drop-down list, and follow the login instructions.
2) Type directly into your favorite web browser and follow the login instructions.
3) Download the Canvas student app onto your phone and/or mobile device and use it to log into and access all Canvas resources.

Optional weekly online Zoom class meetings are scheduled at the following times:

1) GEOG 110-03: Monday and Wednesday from 9:35 to 10:50 am,
2) GEOG 110-04: Monday and Wednesday from 9:35 to 10:50 am,
3) GEOG 110-05: Monday and Wednesday from 11:10 am to 12:25 pm,
4) GEOG 111-02: Tuesday and Thursday from 9:35 to 10:50 am,
5) GEOG 111-03: Tuesday and Thursday from 11:10 am to 12:25 pm, and
6) GEOG 120-70: Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45 to 2:00 pm.

Optional weekly online office hour meetings are scheduled at the following times:

1) Monday and Wednesday from 12:45 to 2:15 pm, and
2) Tuesday and Thursday from 2:20 to 3:35 pm.
