SOC 135 begins on-campus in room NH 253 Monday 8/28/17 from 12:30pm-1:45pm. This is a hybrid class which means we will meet on Mondays in room NH 253 from 12:30pm-1:45pm and remainder hours will take place online in our CANVAS course shell. Log into our Canvas course shell a few days before the start of class. Be aware of the deadlines and expectations so you don't risk being dropped from class.

SOC 100 Section 70 begins on-campus in room NH 253 Friday 9/1/17 from 9am-10:50am. This is a hybrid class which means we will meet on Fridays in room NH 253 from 9am-10:50am and remainder hours will take place online in our CANVAS course shell. Log into our Canvas course shell a few days before the start of class. Be aware of the deadlines and expectations so you don't risk being dropped from class.

SOC 100 Sections 73 and 74, SOC 100Honors, SOC 110, and SOC 120 begin Tuesday 9/5/17. All these classes are 100% online, with no on-campus meetings. SOC 150 begins Monday 10/16/17. This is a 100% online class with no on-campus meetings. Log into our Canvas course shell a few days before the start of class. Be aware of the deadlines and expectations so you don't risk being dropped from class.

You must have access to the required textbook within the first week of class. Go to www.sociologypires.weebly.com for textbook information.

Students must have access to a computer with internet connection and be able to purchase or access the required textbook edition for this course. Laptops must be connected to a modem during exams. Please note that online classes require students to be organized and have college level reading comprehension and writing skills.

The SBVC sociology department advises students to complete ENGL 015 and MATH 962 first prior to enrolling in sociology courses. Sociology courses require students to demonstrate competency through written work which involves critical thinking and interpretation of numerical tables and figures. Critical thinking is defined as "disciplined thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence" (Dictionary.com).
