Do I need to take a TOEFL or an English test for admissions?
All classes are conducted in English. To successfully complete an academic program in the college, applicants must demonstrate reasonably proficient English communication skills. The minimum score of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) required for admissions is 450 on the paper-based (PBT) Test or 45-46 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT.) Information regarding test dates and locations can be found at http://www.ets.org/toefl/. San Bernardino Valley College's Institution Code is 04679. The college also accepts IELTS test result. For the minimum scores required for admissions, please contact the Office of International Student Services. Applicants whose native language is English are exempt from this requirement. At this time, the college does not offer an intensive ESL (English as a Second Language) program.
In addition to TOEFL score for admissions, all newly admitted students are required to take Basic Skills placement tests to assessing the levels of their English comprehension and writing before registering for courses.
