City of San Bernardino mayoral candidates invited to participate in Associated Student Government event ahead of November election.
The Associated Student Government (ASG) of San Bernardino Valley College will host a Candidate Fair on Tuesday, October 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those individuals running for the mayor of San Bernardino.
ASG has invited all qualified candidates to speak with the SBVC population and engage in dialogue on important issues such as bankruptcy, education, and public safety in advance of the upcoming election on November 5, 2013.
“With the current situation facing the city of San Bernardino, this upcoming election is going to be pivotal to the future of this great city. The person elected to this office will have a difficult task at hand; we need the best qualified candidate to fill this position,” Rego Quintero, Mayoral Candidate Fair Committee Chair and ASG Legislative Affairs Director, said. “The information provided at this fair is imperative to helping inform the community before selecting the next mayor of San Bernardino.”
ASG believes this will be a great opportunity for the San Bernardino community, students and faculty of Valley College to not only become involved, but to be informed of their city as well. This will enable the registered voters of our city to make an informed decision in the ballot box during this upcoming election.
The Mayoral Candidate Fair will be held inside the new Conference Center inside the newly-renovated Business building. The first hour will be feature introductions by San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) Chancellor Bruce Baron and SBVC Interim President Dr. Gloria Fisher. After introductions, all candidates will be asked to answer previously submitted questions from the community, students, and staff.
“ASG believes this will be a great opportunity for the San Bernardino community, students, and faculty of SBVC to not only become involved, but to be informed of issues facing their city as well,” Timothy Forrest, ASG Vice President, said. “This will enable the registered voters of our city to make an informed decision in the ballot box during this upcoming election.”
