18th Annual “Spotlighting Our Success” Awards Celebration Spotlights SBVC's Best and Brightest

Annual event recognizes outstanding professors, celebrates landmark staff & faculty anniversaries, bids farewell to new retirees, and provides a tasty year-end project for SBVC's Culinary Arts students.

spotlighting our success trophy and invitation coverCatered by the students in the SBVC Culinary Arts Program as part of their final assignment for the semester, 180 employees and their friends and family were in attendance at the event organized by the all-volunteer Faculty/Staff Awards Committee. While being served meals of beef wellington, tilapia with lobster tail, or a poblano chile vegetarian dish, the awards ceremony began by honoring employees celebrating landmark anniversaries. Dozens of employees were recognized from the stage—including Angie Gideon (Library Circulation Specialist) with 45 years of service. Throughout the evening, several retirees were recognized for their contributinos on campus.

City of San Bernardino Mayor Patrick J. Morris joined the festivities to present Golden Apple Awards to the 2012 and 2013 Classified Employees of the Year and the Outstanding Professors of the Year. In addition to their Golden Apples, recipients received a $100 gift certificate to Le Rendezvous Restaurant and $25 to Regal Cinemas.
