Search for SBVC's 13th permanent president in its 86-year history nearing completion with open forums scheduled for November 27th.
Public forums for the candidates under consideration for the top leadership positions at San Bernardino Valley College (and at Crafton Hills College) have been scheduled. Each school will have two public forums and the forums will be streamed live on the web. The names of the finalists for the SBVC position are:
Dr. Ronald Johnson
Dr. Ronald Johnson brought his skills to Lane Community College in Ore., then to Shasta Community College in Calif., and then to College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., where he served as Vice President of Academic Services. His most recent appointment was as Interim Vice President at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Dr. Johnson earned his bachelors and masters degrees in music from West Virginia University and his doctorate in Community College Leadership from Oregon State University and served three years in the Army as Drum Major of the 6th U.S. Army Band.
Dr. Bill Orr
Dr. Bill Orr is an alumnus of San Bernardino Valley College. He earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Oregon and a doctoral degree in higher education from Nova Southwestern University in Fla. Dr. Orr has taught mathematics in K-12, community college, and university settings before becoming an administrator. He has served in various administrative positions within the San Bernardino Community College District (at Crafton Hills College, San Bernardino Valley College, and at the District Office), Riverside Community College District, and, most recently, at Barstow Community College as the Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Paul Pai
Dr. Paul Pai most recently served as interim Executive Vice President of Sichuan Missouri University, a new university in China under the auspices of the University of Missouri St. Louis, Missouri University of Science and Technology, and Tianfu College of Southwest University of Finance and Economics. Previously he served as President of St. Louis Community College-Meramec (MO), Superintendent/President of Imperial Valley College, and Provost of Georgia Perimeter College-Decatur-Campus/Rockdale Center. He earned his Doctorate of Education from Nova University in Fla., his master’s in physics from the University of South Carolina and his bachelor’s from Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan.
Mr. Arturo Reyes
Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at the Solano Community College District, Mr. Arturo Reyes has over twenty-six years of service in California’s public education system. Previously interim President and Vice President of Academic Affairs at San José City College, he was with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office in Sacramento, and taught Spanish at Cosumnes River College prior to becoming an administrator there. Currently completing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at UC Davis, he earned his master’s degree in education and administrative services credential at CSU, Sacramento and dual bachelor’s degrees from UC, Davis.

Finalists for the Crafton Hills College presidency are as follows: Dr. Ralph Ford, Dr. Cheryl Marshall, and Mr. Arturo Reyes. The Crafton forums will be held on Wednesday, November 28th, 12pm - 2pm and 6 pm - 8pm in the LRC 231 (new Library Building) at Crafton Hills College, 11711 Sand Canyon Rd., Yucaipa, CA 92399-1799.
