Cole – A veteran with 10 years of service in the armed forces is using his G.I. bill to attend college. Because he registered late, he is spending the first day of instruction attempting to add classes. His educational goal is to get a degree and start a career in computer programming
Lorenzo – Armed with a handwritten list of classes he is trying to add, Lorenzo is unlucky in the lottery to be added into Professor David Smith’s Math 942 class at 8:00 a.m. Later in the morning he has relocated to the Library and reports that he was able to get into a Culinary Arts class. He is busy combing through the class schedule preparing another list of courses he will try to get into on Wednesday.
Linda – The lucky winner amongst dozens of students trying to add Professor David Smith’s 8:00 a.m. Math 942 course. Only one seat was available and Linda’s name was chosen out of another student’s hat. She was overjoyed at the luck after having logged into WebAdvisor at 6:05 a.m. on the first day of her registration period only to find out the classes she needed were full.
Ann – As a first time student, Ann braved the cold at 7:00 a.m. to wait in line for an update on her financial aid situation when the offices opened at 8:00 a.m. Although she previously attempted cosmetology school, this is her first time enrolling in community college. She was not able to enroll into any classes but has a list of four classes she will try to get added into today. If she is unsuccessful, she will try for another set of classes on Wednesday.
Matt & Katie – Anxious and excited for the first day of school, Matt awoke at 4:30 a.m. this morning and will be attending classes throughout the day until his last class ends after 9:00 p.m. His sister Katie is showing him the ropes as she enters her final semester at SBVC before transferring in the fall to Cal State San Bernardino.
Victor – After having to withdraw from classes due to work issues in fall 2011, Victor’s morning started early with a 6:30 a.m. Speech class with Professor Jay Danley. He is enrolled in 9 units and is trying to get back to full-time status so that he can finish his coursework and transfer. He is interested in attending Cal State Fullerton or Cal State San Bernardino and getting a degree in Marketing or Business Administration and then proceeding to graduate school.
