A collection of sculptures and acrylics on canvas from artists Judith Hert and Ed Mills will be on display at reception on February 21st at the Clara & Allen Gresham Gallery at San Bernardino Valley College.
Judith Hert’s contributions to SBVC’s show include nine large untitled acrylic pieces that brighten the gallery’s interior walls. Based in New Mexico, Hert’s work was previously shown at SBVC in 2005 and has been shown around the Inland Empire for many years. Her home base is located at the Iola Gallery in Truchas, New Mexico.
Ed Mills’ sculptures—made with recycled paper—are displayed on the walls, on the floor, on makeshift stands, and juxtaposed with other pieces.
“Ultimately, my sculptures are a reminder of what is intimate and familiar to us as well as deeply profound and perhaps spiritual,” Mills said. “They can be viewed for their structure and shape, their texture and color, or their presence can conjure up deeply personal meanings that may recall our ancient relationship to the very formation of life on this rock we know as Earth.”
An artists’ reception is open to the public and will be held on Tuesday, February 21st, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Gallery. The show opened on February 13th and will run through March 2nd.
