William S. Hellyer owned his own law firm, Reid & Hellyer, in San Bernardino for more than five decades.

William S. Hellyer was an attorney in San Bernardino for 55 years. He graduated from San Bernardino Valley Union Junior College in 1934. Now known as SBVC, the college was founded eight years prior to Hellyer's graduation. After receiving an Associates degree from SBVC, Hellyer went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford in 1936 and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Southwestern College. Hellyer was admitted to the California State Bar in 1940 and spent 55 years as an attorney with his own law firm, Reid & Hellyer, in San Bernardino. He also served in the FBI. Hellyer died in 2001.
