Low Interest Federal Student Loans
Federal Perkins Loans are federal low-interest loans for students. San Bernardino Valley College has a small amount of money to award in Perkins Loans each academic year. First consideration of these loan awards is typically given to students with exceptional financial needs, as well as students enrolled in the Nursing, Psychiatric Technician and Sheriff's Academy Programs. Other students will be considered on an individual basis. To apply, students must file a FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. (Currently unavailable for ALL new borrowers)

All students who are interested in applying for a private loan for educational purposes, are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before obtaining a private loan. San Bernardino Valley College will determine a student’s eligibility for federal student financial assistance and state aid, including Cal Grant B & C, based on the FAFSA results submitted to the college. While San Bernardino Valley College does not participate in the federal loan program, students may qualify for federal loans at participating institutions. Students may contact the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by viewing their webpage at www.csac.ca.gov. Students may also go to www.studentaid.ed.gov for a listing of other federal student financial aid they may qualify for at participating institutions.
