Asking the big questions......with humility......

Almost everyone is concerned with the kinds of questions studied in philosophy and religious studies.  Who am I?  Why am I here?  Is there a God?  Why is there evil in the world?  Why can't we all just get along?  What is true?  What is real?  What is beautiful?  What is good? By asking these questions, philosophy and religious studies require students to read carefully, to think clearly, to understand deeply, and to imagine richly.  The answers come and go; the perennial questions remain.   So what will you learn by taking classes in philosophy and religious studies?  You will learn how to ask the big questions ... carefully ... clearly ... deeply ... and with humility.

The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies is a part of the Division of Social Sciences, Human Development, & Physical Education.
