FLEX Scheduling: Extended Day, Bridge Program, Weekend and Online College
|
FLEX Scheduling
By combining courses that are offered during the evening and weekend hours with online instruction, you may be able to complete an Associate of Arts degree and/or transfer to a four-year college or university as a junior while you work and/or raising a family. Both the Weekend and Online Colleges provide a full curriculum of general education courses that lead to a degree. Evening (Extended Day) offers a variety of courses that are held during the evening hours. Choose the program that best fits your needs, schedule, and learning style with a counselor to design a schedule that blends courses from all three programs (Evening, Weekend College, and Online College).
Bridge Program-Development Courses
Prior to enrolling into the accelerated Weekend College you may need to complete courses in the Bridge Program. Courses in the Bridge Program include developmental Math and English courses, as well we development computer skills coursework. Completion time for the bridge program will vary dependent upon your schedule and your developmental level. See a counselor to create a education plan to outline your educational goal.
Weekend College
The Weekend College offers a variety of courses during the weekend hours which include Friday evening and all day Saturday. Courses can qualify you for a degree or for transfer to four-year University. These classes are offered in an accelerated format. These fast paced classes require energy, determination, and strong organizational skills. Courses that require more time to 'grasp' (especially four or five unit courses) are usually offered as full term classes. Most of the three unit classes rotate over an eight or nine week format. All Weekend College degree courses do not have to be taken during the weekend. You may take any course required to complete your degree/certificate during weekdays, evenings or on weekends. You have the ability to take classes online, at an off campus site, or traditionally by attending scheduled classes on campus. See the link for degree/certificate programs available through the Weekend College.
Online College
Online classes can provide you with the flexibility to complete coursework at times that are convenient to your work and family responsibilities or social activities. Working from your home computer, you may also save money normally associated with transportation and childcare costs. Most online courses require few (if any) on-campus meetings.
