| What April Marshall said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
April Marshall is an Air Force veteran and a single mother of two. She uses the GI Bill to help her through school so she has to maintain a full load of classes. She says that online classes have "totally saved" her because she can combine both online and on-campus classes to make a full load. She will be transferring to UCR in the fall and hopes that UCR has as many online classes as SBVC. She said that she would not be transferring if it weren't for the online classes. The bottom line for her is time. "You can't buy more time." But a student can take classes online so that she is not trapped in a "time bind" with scheduling. | - April Marshall, Student

| What Kevin Arden said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
Kevin Arden will graduate from the University of Phoenix in July with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. He is an "online veteran," having experienced both UofP and SBVC online classes. He took on-campus classes at Crafton years ago, but was able to finish his degree only because of the flexibility of online classes. "I couldn't complete school any other way," he says. Although Kevin has been taking online classes for two semesters at SBVC, his first visit to SBVC's physical campus was last week. He said that it "felt foreign to come on campus." Kevin's experience may be a model of many of our students in the future. Their learning comes mediated through technology. Being physically present on a campus is not a necessary component for learning. Virtual students meet virtual professors in virtual learning spaces. Education happens. | - Kevin Arden, Student

| What Annivory Calvert said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
| "The on-line classes that I am taking have been excellent. The course content has been stimulating and challenging. The technology of the online classes has been especially convenient for me. I am a student returning to school to learn new skills and I have been impressed with the level of instruction and the ease of completing the course work on-line. I can work during the middle of the night when my family is sleeping and my home is quiet. I can get messages from my professor without having to be in the classroom setting. The on-line work requires me to stay on track, rather than waiting to do all my work at one time, like a lot of students. The CD's that I bought replaced a textbook and have all kinds of links to related websites. It's like having a library at my fingertips when I read the chapter for the week. I feel so much more like a writer in the two writing classes I have, because of the staggered meeting weeks and the weekly assignments. On-line classes are the wave of the future. It is a thoroughly enjoyable, yet educationally fun process." | | - Annivory Calvert, Student |
| What Ruth Waters said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
| "The teachers that teach the online classes are wonderful and they have a way of explaining things that I don't get in [on-campus] classes. You get close to your classmates and instructors." | | - Ruth Waters, Student |
| What Nadine Salais said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
| "The experience online has been good; it allows me to continue school and still be able to have time for family and work." | | - Nadine Salais, Student |
| What Candice Pierce said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
| "With my day being so full, online classes give me the opportunity to work at midnight if I need to finish an assignment. Or I can work on a Sunday afternoon. Online classes have made my hectic life a little easier!" | | - Candice Pierce, Student |
| What Christina O'Connell said about Online College @ SBVC |
|---|
| "I don't have to worry about trying to figure where I am going to fit in other classes I need to take. Online classes are more convenient." | | - Christina O'Connell, Student |
