| Application Process for International Students |

San Bernardino Valley College is approved by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), to admit non-immigrant international students who are taking lower division coursework for transfer to four-year institutions or who are taking coursework to complete a two-year occupational major.
Applications will be accepted for the fall or spring semesters or for the summer term. Applications are accepted at anytime, however, the final deadlines to submit application materials are May 1 for the fall semester (begins in August), October 1 for the spring semester (begins in January), and March 1 for the summer term (begins in May/June) to ensure that the student will be able to obtain his/her F-1 student visa in a timely manner.
All application materials must be submitted to the International Student Counselor in the Counseling Department in the Administrative Services / Student Services (AD/SS) building, Room 103. Requirements for Admission: - Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age unless the student is a high school graduate.
- An International Application for admission accompanied by a nonrefundable processing fee of $25.00 in a cashier's check or money order payable to San Bernardino Valley College. A personal check from a bank within the U.S. is also acceptable.
- A San Bernardino Valley College application.

- A minimum score of 450 on the paper-based (PBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or 133 on the computer-based (CBT) TOEFL, or 45-46 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT). Information regarding administration of this test can be found at www.ets.org. San Bernardino Valley College's Institution Code is 04679.
- Official transcripts and/or official academic records from high school and college, accompanied by a notarized translation if the original is not in English.
- A bank statement, a bank letter, and a Affidavit of Support form, documenting sufficient funds to cover one year of expenses. The amount must be at least $17,500 U.S. dollars.
- One recent passport sized photograph.
- A photocopy of the student's passport.
- If the student is applying from within the United States and transferring from another U.S. educational institution, copies of the student's F-1 student visa, passport, I-94 (front and back), and I-20 form must be submitted. An Intent to Transfer to San Bernardino Valley College Form must be completed by the student's current educational institution.
- It is mandatory for F-1 students to purchase International Health Insurance. Insurance may be purchased from The Student Insurance Agency and must be purchased prior to class registration each semester. This can be purchased once the student arrives in the United States.
- The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), requires each International Student on an F-1 Student Visa maintain full-time status by enrolling in at least 12 units each fall and spring semester and 6 units in the summer term.
- When all requirements have been met, the student will be mailed a letter of acceptance, along with an I-20 (certificate of eligibility) form to take to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the student's country. After the student has received his/her I-20, the student or the student's sponsor will need to pay a $130.00 I-901 Fee Remittance to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). This fee may be paid by mail or through the internet at www.FMJfee.com. The receipt for this payment will be needed to obtain the F-1 Student Visa. Other documents may also be necessary. Please contact your local U.S. Embassy/Consulate or check the U.S. Department of State website (http://usembassy.state.gov/) to determine which additional documents are necessary to obtain your F-1 Student Visa.
- Once the F-1 Student Visa is obtained, the student may arrive in the United States up to thirty (30) days prior to his/her program start date.
