| STUDENT POLICIES FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION |
To succeed in reaching educational goals, students should be encouraged
to gain more understanding of the effects of alcohol and drugs. As a group
that may be more likely to abuse these substances, students must learn that
substance dependence may drain vitality, impair memory and motivation, and
strain financial resources (the very things that could allow collegiate
success). Students must be offered guidance and counsel by teachers, other
college personnel, and peers. Students should look to college staff for
positive examples of role models.
STANDARD OF STUDENT CONDUCT POLICY 6020
- Disciplinary action for good cause may be imposed upon a student
by an instructor, an administrator, or the Board of Trustees for misconduct
of the following while attending college classes or college sponsored
activities:
- The use, sale or possession of hallucinogenic drugs or substance,
or any poison classified as such in Schedule D in Section 4160 of The
Business and Professions Code or the presence on campus by anyone under
the influence of such drugs or substances.
- The use or possession of alcoholic beverages on college property
or at any college sponsored event or the presence on campus of anyone
under the influence of alcohol.
- Any student who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary
action which may include expulsion.
- By extension this policy also applies to student groups and organizations.
POLICY FOR STUDENT ATHLETES:

sports are also regulated by the COA.
