EMPLOYEE POLICY FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION
To ensure that employees are working in a safe, non-threatening and productive environment, the following policy has been developed.

SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN THE WORKPLACE

  • The San Bernardino Community College District strives to maintain a workplace free from illegal use, possession, or distribution of controlled substances as defined in the Controlled Substances Act. Unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of controlled substances in the workplace or on District business is prohibited. Employees shall not use illegal substances or abuse legal substances in a manner which impairs performance of assigned tasks.
  • All employees are required to comply with this policy as a condition of their continued employment. An employee who violates this policy will be subject to disciplinary action which may include termination.
  • Any employee convicted under a criminal drug statute for improper conduct in the workplace must report this conviction within five (5) working days to the Director, Personnel Services & Employee Relations.
  • By extension, no employee may report to work while under the influences of alcohol or other controlled substances.
