Visual, Performing, & Media Arts Theatre/Performing Arts
Theatre/Performing Arts is the study of human expression which culminates in live performance. The play is the medium used to tell a story performed by actors. Theatre Arts includes the study of the literature and related disciplines and technologies required for performances. The Theatre/Performing Arts Department coordinates several student performances each year. Courses offered by the Theatre/Performing Arts Department emphasize individual creativity, personal interaction, and communication skills. Courses are designed to meet the needs of students fulfilling general education requirements and the needs of students who are pursuing theatre as a major. Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution and major in Theatre/Performing Arts or a related field should consult with a counselor regarding the transfer process and lower division requirements.
