Social Science & Human Development Right Arrow Sociology
Sociology is both a scientific and humanistic discipline. Sociologists examine the systems of social action including single social acts, social relationships, organizations, institutions, communities, and societies. Through analyses of society, its groups, institutions, and processes, sociologists attempt to understand and predict human behavior.

The study of sociology prepares students for further study of and careers in social work, probation, corrections, human services, law enforcement, research, public policy, law and education. Students planning to transfer to a four-year institution and major in sociology should consult with a counselor regarding the transfer process and lower division requirements.
