Smoking Policy

According to Board Policy/Administrative Regulation 3570, smoking of any form of tobacco or non-tobacco products is prohibited on District grounds (District, PDC, ATTC, SBVC campus, CHC campus, Transportation Center, etc.) and in District-owned vehicles (see below or view at http://www.boarddocs.com/ca/sbccd/Board.nsf ).

Board Policy 3570 - SMOKING

A. Smoking of any form of tobacco or non-tobacco products is prohibited on District grounds, in all District vehicles, at any activity or athletic event and on all property owned, leased or rented by or from the District, unless a tobacco use area has been designated.

B. This policy and these regulations apply to employees, students, visitors and other persons who use the facilities on the campuses or centers that are part of San Bernardino Community College District.

Administrative Regulation 3570 - SMOKING
A. Smoking shall be permitted only in designated areas. Look for "Tobacco Use Area" signs at each campus.

Smokers must:

  • Respect the rights of non-smokers
  • Smoke only in approved areas
  • Make sure their smoke does not enter buildings

Non-Smokers must:

  • Respect the rights of smokers

B. Notice of the Policy

  • Notice of the Smoking Policy of the campus will be published in appropriate District publications and in notices distributed to students, staff, and those renting District facilities
  • Appropriate signage will also be placed throughout the campus

C. Enforcement

  • Individuals refusing to comply with this policy may be referred to the Campus Police who, for the first offense may issue a Warning, for the second offense may issue a Citation
  • Upon issuance of a Citation the violator will be required to pay a fine or may be required to perform campus/community service related to the smoking policy
  • Repeat student violators of the policy will be referred to the appropriate Vice President for violation of Education Code section 76033 (3) and Board Policy 5500 (Standards of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures)
  • College employees who are repeat violators will be referred to their immediate supervisor for violation of District policy
  • All others will be asked to leave the campus; and, if they refuse, may be subject to arrest for trespass according to Penal Code 602.
